David Lipscomb University and Vanderbilt University have agreed to a partnership allowing students to earn nursing degrees from Lipscomb while taking their final courses in Vanderbilts more advanced facilities, according to The Tennessean. Lipscomb currently does not offer a nursing degree; Vanderbilt has a masters in nursing but not a bachelors. The agreement is scheduled to be approved by the state Board of Nursing next month.

Lipscomb currently does not offer a nursing degree; Vanderbilt has a master's in nursing but not a bachelor's. The agreement is scheduled to be approved by the state Board of Nursing next month.

Belmont University's School of Business is offering a new major in entrepreneurship, beginning in fall 2004. The program will combine classroom time with mentoring, internships and “opportunities to use the students' own businesses as living laboratories,” according to the Belmont Web site.

Tennessee State University has added two vice presidents—a vice president for research and sponsored programs and a vice president for technology and administrative services—in little more than a year, according to a Nov. 11 article in The Tennessean. According to writer Michael Cass, some TSU employees are “upset by the apparent disparity between the school's cries of financial woe and the six-figure administrative hires.” Cass also compares the number of vice presidents, enrollment figures and average salaries at state universities, noting that the number of vice presidents a school employs isn't always proportional to enrollment. APSU has three vice presidents, the fewest of any state college or university in Tennessee.
