Chamber Singers in concert as part of annual spring tour

The Austin Peay State University Chamber Singers will perform in February in Chattanooga as part of the groups annual spring concert tour.

The Chamber Singers will be in concert at 6 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 11 at Brainerd United Methodist Church, Chattanooga. The performance is free of charge and open to the public.

The concert will feature a range of musical styles and composers from the Renaissance to the present day.

The concert will feature a range of musical styles and composers from the Renaissance to the present day.

In addition to the upcoming concert, the Chamber Singers will be featured in April at the Tennessee Music Educators state convention in Nashville. The ensemble also represents the University on the regional and national levels, having performed at conventions of the American Choral Directors Association and the Music Educators National Conference.

The 25-member ensemble is the premiere vocal ensemble of the University, selected each fall by competitive audition. The group tours each year, primarily to high schools in Tennessee to promote the APSU Department of Music and recruit young vocalists to the University.

Chamber Singers is conducted by Dr. Karen Kenaston-French, director of choral activities at Austin Peay. She is assisted by Anne Glass, professor of music.
