February 12, 2003

Thursday's 7 p.m. confrontation with TSU will be an historical occasion, as for the first time a woman serves as head coach in an NCAA Division I men's basketball game.

Teresa Phillips, TSU's athletic director, took over the coaching spot after a Monday night brawl at Eastern Kentucky that saw 19 players ejected from the game.

Interim coach Hosea Lewis was handed a one-game suspension after the EKU incident. That one game will be with Austin Peay.

Interim coach Hosea Lewis was handed a one-game suspension after the EKU incident. That one game will be with Austin Peay.

Lewis was named interim coach after the Dec. 26 suspension of Nolan Richardson III, who brought a gun into TSU's Gentry Center.

Phillips was head coach of the TSU's women's team from 1989 to 2000.

In addition to seeing a history-making game, fans will be entertained by the Panther Power Jumpers from Russellville, Ky., during halftime, along with the All-Pro Cheerleaders from Clarksville High School.

Athletic Academic Awards also will be handed out at halftime.
