APSU's annual Phonathon raises more than $62,000

Austin Peay State Universitys Alumni and Annual Giving Office raised $62,086 during its annual Phonathon, Feb. 6-March 2.

Through the Phonathon, conducted at the Pace Alumni Center at Emerald Hill, APSU students and faculty called alumni nationwide to solicit donations for scholarships.

Through the Phonathon, conducted at the Pace Alumni Center at Emerald Hill, APSU students and faculty called alumni nationwide to solicit donations for scholarships.

Seven students were inducted into the Phonathon Hall of Fame for having raised $2,500 or more in pledges. Student winners with the most pledges and highest increases are Tabatha Sarco, a senior from Jackson majoring in psychology, and senior Julie Wood, an education major from Mount Juliet. Sarco has been named a Phonathon winner the past three years.

The top three faculty winners are Dr. Bruce Myers, professor of computer science, Dr. David Kanervo, professor of political science, and Glenn Carter, professor of social work.

Cell phones and airtime were donated by Verizon Wireless. Food donors were O'Charley's, ARAMARK Campus Dining, Chick-Fil-A, Subway, Captain D's, Taco Bell, Cici's Pizza, Wendy's, Arby's, Blackhorse Pub and Brewery, Hardee's, Fazoli's and Whitt's Barbecue.
