APSU faculty, staff achieve goals through pursuits

Joe Mills, director of APSU Housing/Residence Life and Dining Services, was selected to be one of six faculty members from the southeast to mentor and present topics to new professionals in the student affairs and housing fields during the Regional Entry Level Institute, June 3-6 at Furman University. He will cover topics that include new housing construction, privatized housing, LEED certification and the future of housing, as well as working with physical plant and specifying residence hall furniture.

Melony Shemberger, communication specialist in public relations and marketing, recently competed in the annual Gordon Jewish Community Center Memorial Day Triathlon in Nashville, finishing the 200-meter swim, 8.5-mile bike and 2-mile run in 1 hour, 7 minutes, 12 seconds. She also competed May 23 in the Starfish Orphan Ministries 5-K race in Paducah, Ky., finishing in 29:12 and then ran the same course for the annual Run for Fun & Fitness on May 28, improving her time to 27:45. She will participate in a 15-mile bike ride and compete in a 5-K race, both endurance events benefitting the Calloway County (Ky.) Humane Society on June 6.
