APSU extended ed announces June classes

Summertime and the living is easy, especially if youre ready to learn a new skill via classroom or online courses from Austin Peays Center for Extended and Distance Education.

Heres the schedule for June:

Classroom Courses

Community Service Programs

•Parents, Children and Divorce is the state-mandated course divorcing parents with minor children are required to take before the divorce is granted. The father and mother do not attend the class at the same time, and children are not permitted to attend. Community Service Programs

•“Parents, Children and Divorce” is the state-mandated course divorcing parents with minor children are required to take before the divorce is granted. The father and mother do not attend the class at the same time, and children are not permitted to attend.
Choose from one of three classes. The first course will meet 9 a.m.-1 p.m., Saturday, June 12, in Clement 132. The second course will meet 5:45-9:45 p.m., Monday, June 21, in Clement 132. The third course will meet from 9 a.m.-1 p.m., Saturday, June 26, at the Dickson County Renaissance Center, Room 220. The course and textbook fee is $30.

•“Motorcycle: Basic Rider Course” meets 5:45-10 p.m. on Friday, and 8 a.m.-6 p.m. on
Saturday and Sunday. Choose one of four courses offered at APSU's Education Center at Fort Campbell, Building 605: June 4-6, June 11-13, June 18-20 or June 25-27. The course fee is $170.

Languages, Leisure Learning and Personal Development

•“Conversational Spanish-Part 2” explores the language in practical settings. The class meets from 7-9 p.m., Mondays, June 21-Aug. 2 at 106 Public Square. The course fee is $81. The text is $15.

Computer Software User Training

•“Overcoming Computerphobia” meets 6-8 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays, June 1-10, at 106 Public Square, Clarksville. The course fee is $65. The lab and supply fee is $12.

•“IC—Internet & Computer Competency” prepares adults and high school students to take the new IC certification exam. The course meets 6-9 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays, June 15-July 6, at 106 Public Square, Clarksville. The course, text and lab fee is $214.

•“Microsoft Access XP Basics” runs 6-8 p.m., Mondays and Wednesdays, June 2-16, at 106 Public Square, Clarksville. The course fee is $81, the lab fee is $5 and the textbook costs $23.

•“Microsoft Word XP Basics” meets from 6-8 p.m., Mondays and Wednesdays, June 21-July 7, at 106 Public Square, Clarksville. The course fee is $81, the lab fee is $5 and the textbook is $23.

Law and Legal Careers Online
•Courses are available in “Paralegal Prep,” a six-part online training program that prepares people to work in a law office (each course costs $150), and “Evidence Law” ($69).

Test Prep Online—each course costs $69.
•Courses are available in “GRE Prep, Part 2: Quantitative,” “SAT/ACT Prep, Part 2,” “GED Prep” and “GMAT Prep” are $69 each.

Basic Computer Literacy Online
•“Keyboarding” is available for $59.

The Internet Online—each course costs $59.
•“Marketing Your Business on the Internet” and “Intro to MS Outlook 2002” are available for $59 each.

Computer Applications Online
•“Intro to QuickBooks” is available for $59.

Computer Programming and Database Online
•“Intro to Oracle” and “Intro to SQL” are being offered for $59 each.

Desktop Publishing and Printing Online—each course costs $59.
