APSU Clarinet Choir performance set

The Austin Peay State University Department of Music is pleased to announce a performance by the clarinet choir.

The concert will take place at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 1 in the Music/Mass Communication Building Concert Hall.

The clarinet choir will perform works by Florent Schmitt, Claude Debussy, Mozart and Bach.

Students performing in the choir include Nigel Brown, Yamil Camacho, David Corder, Jasmine Fuller, Nathan Givens, Leighton Hathcote, Christopher Hodge and Caleb Wise.

Mingzhe Wang, assistant professor of music at Austin Peay State University, will direct the ensemble.

Wang joined the faculty of Austin Peay State University in the fall of 2007 and was selected as the vocal soloist for the Nashville Symphony production, “Concerto for Percussion.” Wang's accomplishments include winning the National Society of Arts and Letters Woodwind Competition in 1999, Orchestral Instrument Competition in 2001 and the Yale Woolsey Hall Concerto Competition.

Before coming to APSU, Wang taught clarinet to Yale undergraduate students and served on the faculty at the Neighborhood Music School in New Haven, Conn.
