APSU Brass Ensembles present a full night of music

Austin Peay State Universitys Brass Ensembles will perform in concert at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 12 in the Music/Mass Communication Building Concert Hall.

The Brass Ensembles consist of four groups. The Horn Ensemble is conducted by Francis Massinon, professor of music. The Tuba-Euphonium Ensemble as well as the Brass Quintet I and II are coached by Bernard H. Flythe, assistant professor of music.

The Horn Ensemble will feature works by Vaclav Nelhybel, Theodor Kullak and George Frederick McKay.

Edward Elgar's “Nimrod” and Julius Fucik's “Florentiner March” will be performed by the Tuba Ensemble.

The Brass Quintet I will present Gustav Holst's “Second Military Suite in F.” The piece is arranged by David Sabourin.

The concert will conclude with a performance of the Brass Quintet II, featuring Ludwig Maurer's “Scherzo and Lied,” Malcom Arnold's “Quintet” and John Williams' “Star Wars.”

The admission-free concert is sponsored by the Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts and the APSU Department of Music.
