Austin Peay's Accounting Club, an Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) Student Chapter, was honored with the “Gold Award of Excellence” during a joint meeting of the Nashville IMA and the Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants (TSCPA) in Nashville.

Student officers Cecil Wilson, president, and Josh Nanney, treasurer and president-elect, were presented with a certificate recognizing the club as one of the most “outstanding student chapters” in the country.

The club also made the top 10 in IMA's National Video Case Competition last summer.

In addition, members were honored at IMA's fourth annual Student Conference and Exposition, Nov. 7-8, in Indianapolis. More than 400 students from the United States and foreign countries attended. While highlights included a lap around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the APSU club had an unforgettable moment as it was recognized for having the highest overall representation and awarded 10 briefcases for the next 10 members.

“IMA provides a great opportunity for student growth, both personally and professionally, as well as the chance to meet top business and political leaders from all over the world,” says Dr. Dave Eichelberger, assistant professor of accounting and faculty adviser of IMA.

The club is raising funds to attend the IMA National Conference in Chicago by working at a concession stand during Tennessee Titans home football games.
