Athletics

Special Initiatives

The Southeastern Grasslands Initiative (SGI) is a collaboration of leaders in international biodiversity conservation led by the Austin Peay State University. Those groups include the Center of Excellence for Field Biology, the Botanical Research Institute of Texas, the North Carolina Botanical Garden, and Roundstone Native Seed. SGI seeks to integrate research, consultation, and education, along with the administration of grants, to create innovative solutions to address the multitude of complex issues facing Southeastern grasslands, the most imperiled ecosystems in eastern North America. Money donated to these areas allow APSU students in the department or area for which it is given to receive financial assistance. Scholarships are typically awarded each Fall and Spring semester. The Center of Excellence for Field Biology at Austin Peay State University is dedicated to the study and preservation of biodiversity in the southeastern United States. Give a gift to the Center of Excellence in Field Biology Scholarship

Given to the Youth Ovation Award winner. The Youth Ovation Award winners must submit a copy of their notification letter with their application. The recipient will be granted the scholarship for one year only. For more information, contact advancement@apsu.edu or 931-221-7127.

 

Give a gift to the Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts (CECA) Scholarship

Students in the President's Emerging Leaders Program exemplify the vision and values of Austin Peay and our program through academic excellence and service above self. PELP students receive an annual scholarship of $3,000, which is renewable over a four-year period. For more information visit https://www.apsu.edu/pelp/.

 

Give a gift to the President's Emerging Leaders Scholarship

This scholarship is provided by alumnus Larry Carroll. The scholarship is awarded to a full-time rising junior or senior with a declared major in accounting. Money given to this scholarship is matched dollar for dollar.

 

Give a gift to the Baggett Carroll Business Scholarship

The Reagan Scholarship Program is provided to select female students who attend Austin Peay State University. The scholarship is designed to provide assistance to those female students who exhibit excellence in academics and community service. Applicants must have a 3.5 GPA and minimum 24 ACT with financial need. The scholarship recipient would be expected to attend an annual Reagan Giving Circle award luncheon held each spring on the campus of APSU to receive her award. Give a gift to the Reagan's Women's Giving Circle Scholarship

This Honors Program scholarship was established in 2013 by Hazel Irwin to honor her husband, Dr. Ed Irwin in recognition of his academic tenure at APSU and for his role in establishing the APSU Honors Program. Give a gift to the Ed Irwin Endowed Honor's Scholarship

Given to a full-time undergraduate student who is a direct descendant of a current, retired, or deceased APSU employee with five or more years of service that has completed 60 credit hours with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Give a gift to the APSU Retiree Association Scholarship

These funds go to build a scholarship endowment for deserving APSU African American students. The scholarship, named in honor of the painter Marvin Posey, Jr., was one of the most promising young artists to emerge from Tennessee in years, with his work appearing in major galleries nationwide. Since his untimely passing, Posey’s family has donated several of his celebrated works to his Alma Mater, Austin Peay State University. “I won’t live forever, but my work will. University Programs

Each semester, the Wilbur N. Daniel African American Cultural Center honors graduating African American students at Austin Peay State University with an African American Graduate Recognition Ceremony. Family and friends are invited to see students celebrated for their accomplishments and receive a Kente stole to wear during commencement. The mission of the S.O.S. Food Pantry is to assist and provide supplement food to the needy at Austin Peay State University who have been impacted by financial problems as a result of unemployment (lay-offs and downsizing), divorce, disability, health, domestic violence, homelessness, disaster, and/or rising cost of living. We gather, store, and distribute goods to those who find themselves in time of special need and crisis. The Student Internship Stipend would provide an opportunity to support students that wish to gain hands-on work experience in the world of work to prepare them for career opportunities after graduation. The stipend could be used to assist with costs such as, the cost of tuition for academic credit for the internship experience course, to assist with housing and/or travel to/from the workplace during the experience or to supplement an hourly wage for work experiences that are unpaid. The Military Student Center (now the Newton Military Family Resource Center) established our Texts for Vets Program in our continual strive towards excellence. This initiative provides students with textbooks free of charge. It relies on student textbook and monetary donations. Though our military students receive Veterans Affairs education benefits to fund their education, these funds are not always enough. It is in this we seek your assistance in reducing some of the financial burden for veterans while attending Austin Peay State University through a monetary contribution, which will aid in providing textbooks for our students.
