· Dress professionally. You can wear business or business casual clothing, but make sure it is clean, neat and conservative in color and style. Dressing nicely shows respect to potential employers and makes a good first impression!
· Bring copies of your current resume. It is a good idea to get your resume reviewed with Career Services prior to the Career Fair. Information about resume writing is also available online or by attending one of our free workshops.
· TALK to representatives from the companies and schools. Literature is useful as a secondary source, but you are here to make contacts. Most employment offers still come from networking. Attend our free workshop on networking at a career fair for more information.
· Do not interrupt someone when they are talking with another candidate.
· Listen to what others are asking. You may learn some valuable information or hear a question that you want to use in the future.
· Make sure you hand your resume to the employer. Don't just set it down on the table assuming that they will see it.
· Try to get business cards from everyone with whom you speak.
· Ask questions! Employers and schools are impressed by candidates that show genuine interest. Ideally, you should research the companies attending so that you can ask informed questions. However, general, goal-oriented inquiries can also show employers that you are thoughtful and motivated.

1. What opportunities are available with your company?
2. What majors does your organization typically hire?
3. What are the qualities that you look for in a candidate?
4. What recommendations do you have for someone entering the field?
5. How competitive is admission to your graduate school?
· Follow up with thank you notes to employers or schools. This shows respect and keeps you on the organization's radar.
