Submission Guidelines
Zone 3 publishes fiction, poetry, and creative nonfiction. Writers whose work has appeared in the journal include Marge Piercy, Judith Ortiz Cofer, William Stafford, Michael Blumenthal, Diane Wakoski, A. Van Jordan, David Keplinger, Michael Burkard, Cris Mazza, Peter Meinke, Ted Kooser, Gina Ochsner, Neal Bowers, and Andrea Hollander Budy.
Zone 3’s aim is to publish the best contemporary writing available, both from beginning and established writers. All submissions to ZONE 3 should be typed, double-spaced (except for poetry), and should include your name and address. Please enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope (SASE) for our response. For poetry, we prefer that you send no more than 4-6 poems, for fiction no more than one story. For prose, although we have no absolute word limits, we seldom publish a piece that is more than 5,000 words in length. We will consider novel excerpts. Translations of poetry are also welcomed. Please allow 2-4 months for a reply. Zone 3 does accept simultaneous submissions but please notify us immediately if the work has been accepted elsewhere. Please note that we do not read emailed submissions.
