to find a finishing school hiding
behind the facade of educating

October 26 - If
These Walls Could Talk 2
7pm, Harned 245
Feminist Film Series
This film depicts the difficulties
faced by lesbians at different
points in time. In 1961, a woman
(Vanessa Redgrave) is "widowed" when
her partner of 50 years suddenly
dies. The 1972 portion stars
Michelle Williams, who finds dealing
with the sexual politics of the gay
community increasingly more complex
when she falls in love with a boyish
woman (played by Chloe Sevigny). The
most modern portion, set in 2000,
portrays a contemporary lesbian
couple (Sharon Stone and Ellen
DeGeneres) determined to have a
baby.

November 16 - Born
into Brothels
7pm, Harned 245
Feminist Film Series
Set in Calcutta's notorious
red-light district, this documentary
piece explores the lives of its most
vulnerable citizens, children who
work in the sex trade. Faced with
the risks of HIV, brutality and
murder, discover how children as
young as 10 cope with their everyday
reality. Directed by Zana Briski and
Ross Kauffman, the picture's eight
subjects shot the still footage
themselves. Here you will meet eight
children who are the off-spring of
prostitutes trying to make enough
money to buy their next meal.
