Career Opportunities

Primary professions for the minor include: women's center directors, grant writers and lobbyists for non-profit organizations, victim advocate coordinators, directors of shelters for women.
The minor is also excellent preparation for teachers, social workers, nurses, or any profession requiring communication skills. The minor offers students a specific perspective from which to understand the diverse experience of women in various contexts and disciplines, and it helps students develop analytical and negotiation skills that they will need to be successful in today's diverse workforce. Additionally, the minor provides a theoretical framework for students interested in pursuing graduate studies. Recent graduates report that their women's studies minor expanded their qualifications for jobs in state government.
