We are excited that you have chosen to attend Austin Peay State University. You and your family probably have a lot of questions about APSU and college life in general. During Summer Welcome, we'll answer your questions, introduce you to academic and support services, show you how to get involved on campus and help you register for classes.
Note: The fee for students attending Summer Welcome will be billed automatically to your student account, appearing on your tuition and fees statement as a "new student" fee. Attendance is mandatory if you're a first-time freshman. Guest registration is $15 per guest.
During Summer Welcome, you will take part in academic advising and work with students to register for classes. You'll walk away from Summer Welcome with your student ID card, valuable information on how to navigate APSU and you fall class schedule, complete with course titles, days and times.
For Freshman: Remember, if you're coming to APSU with fewer than 12 college credit-hours, you are considered a freshman. Summer Welcome is the only way new APSU freshman can register for classes for fall semester. When you return for Freshman Orientation in August, you will be a comfortable, confident APSU student.
For Transfers: If you are coming to APSU with more than 12 college credit hours, you are considered a transfer student. You have the option of coming to campus for Transfer Summer Welcome, or completing the Online Orientation.
The Morgan University Center (UC) main floor, or second floor, is where you will need to check-in for Summer Welcome. Arrive no later than 7:30am for check-in. Follow the red Welcome signs and the directions from our Registration & Orientation Assistants, who are in bright teal shirts.

Yes! We strongly encourage parents and family members to attend. Their support, understanding and encouragement can affect your success as a student tremendously.
While you meet with advisers and register for classes, your family members will attend separate sessions that address their particular questions or concerns. The cost to attend is $15 per guest. This fee can be paid online during registration or upon arrival at Summer Welcome. The guest fee covers lunch and materials.
Note: Due to the nature of Summer Welcome, children should not attend. Parents may not attend academic advising sessions.
Yes, you must attend every activity in order to register for classes at the end of the Welcome session.
Several one-day Summer Welcome sessions are offered in June, July and August. Winter Welcome dates are offered in December and January. Register for the earliest date possible. Attending Welcome early will give you more class options, and help you to get your prefered schedule. Letters will be sent by mail from the Office of Admissions with specific information you need in order to register for a Summer or Winter Welcome session. Please review the letter carefully.
Follow the Welcome signs to Eighth Street and Marion Street. The large parking lot, commonly known as the Music/Mass Communications parking lot, is also next to the Governors Stadium. You will also see our Registration & Orientation Assistants in bright shirts to help guide you to APSU!
