Design/Content Guidelines
- Adhere to Web
Accessibility Guidelines so people using
assistive technology can access your pages.
- Review the
APSU Web
Policy page guidelines.
- Explore APSU Web pages for existing university
information rather than developing duplicate sets
of data or graphic files. Check the Common
Pages list.
- Make initial pages small enough to fit within a
smaller-size monitor (set at 640 x 480 resolution)
with little or no scrolling required.
- Make pages user-friendly in terms of size and
number of graphics. Remember that many people are
still using low screen resolution (640 x 480) and
large/wide graphics may not fit into the viewing
area or print within the width of a single sheet
of paper. Approximately 50% of our viewers set
screen resolution to 800 x 600.
- Keep in mind that your pages will appear
differently using different browsers. Test your
pages!
- Keep viewers interested in your site by keeping
information current.
- Make your pages attractive -- don't overdo the
colors/graphics and font styles.
- Take your audience and communication goals into
account when developing content for your page.
- Share the same visual framework and organization
through all of your pages to create a consistent
identity and make your site easier to navigate.
