Design/Content Guidelines

  1. Adhere to Web Accessibility Guidelines so people using assistive technology can access your pages.

  2. Review the APSU Web Policy page guidelines.

  3. Explore APSU Web pages for existing university information rather than developing duplicate sets of data or graphic files. Check the Common Pages list.

  4. Make initial pages small enough to fit within a smaller-size monitor (set at 640 x 480 resolution) with little or no scrolling required.

  5. Make pages user-friendly in terms of size and number of graphics. Remember that many people are still using low screen resolution (640 x 480) and large/wide graphics may not fit into the viewing area or print within the width of a single sheet of paper. Approximately 50% of our viewers set screen resolution to 800 x 600.

  6. Keep in mind that your pages will appear differently using different browsers. Test your pages!

  7. Keep viewers interested in your site by keeping information current.

  8. Make your pages attractive -- don't overdo the colors/graphics and font styles.

  9. Take your audience and communication goals into account when developing content for your page.

  10. Share the same visual framework and organization through all of your pages to create a consistent identity and make your site easier to navigate.
