The
Tennessee Philological Association, founded in
1905, consists of college and university scholars, graduate students, and
professors devoted to language and literature in
English and other languages. The association meets every year on the
last weekend of February to renew old bonds,
establish new ones, and encourage scholarship
and fellowship. Meeting places rotate among the
"three states" of Tennessee-east,
middle, and west-and papers range in subject
matter from composition pedagogy, to
linguistics, to ancient and modern canonical
literature, to film and popular culture.
