Scholarships
You're interested in a
career in Theatre or Dance--but money's a problem. Well, we may
be able to help you. The department offers a variety of
performance scholarships, and graduate assistantships. See below
for more information.
Eligibility:
All high school graduates with acceptable academic records and
an aptitude for theatre and/or dance, who plan to pursue studies
in theatre arts leading to a degree, are eligible to audition.
All scholarship applicants must apply for admission to be
considered in the scholarship competition.
Awards:
$500 - $1,000, all awards are renewable each term upon a review
of the student's performance
Criteria for Auditions:
Scholarships are awarded on the bases of acting or technical expertise, academic record, a willingness to work and a positive attitude
Acting: Applicants wishing to audition for an acting
scholarship should bring two (2) cuttings of no more than two minutes each - one serious and one light. The pieces should demonstrate your best effort. Do not be
concerned about costumes and properties. however, if you plan to sing, please let us know ahead of time.
Dance: Applicants wishing to audition for a dance scholarship should come prepared to participate in a short audition class and interview.
Technical Theatre: Applicants wishing to
be interviewed for a technical theatre scholarship in costuming,
lighting or set construction should bring a portfolio of their
work if available.

Saturday, January 31, 2009 @ 3:00 PM (Trahern Theatre)
Saturday, February 7, 2009 @ 3:00 PM (Trahern Theatre)
