The Praxis Series™ assessments provide educational tests and other services that states use as part of their teacher licensure and certification process. The Praxis I® tests measure basic academic skills, and the Praxis II® tests measure general and subject-specific knowledge and teaching skills. APSU administers paper-based tests only. Please note: APSU does not administer PRAXIS I. To schedule a PRAXIS I exam, please contact the Prometric Testing Center at (931) 647-2003. All information below refers to PRAXIS II exams.
Important Policies / Updates
Effective November 2011, ETS has instituted a new online registration system.
Effective 2011, some paper and pencil tests will be moving to computer-delivered formats. For more information, please visit the ETS website. Please review the Test Retake Policy for computer-delivered tests.
Cell phones, smart phones (e.g., BlackBerry devices®, iPhones, etc.) PDAs and other electronic or photographic devices are NOT PERMITTED inside the testing center. If you are seen with such a device, you will be dismissed from the test, your scores will be cancelled, and you will forfeit your test fees. If you are seen USING such a device, in addition to the above conditions, the device will be confiscated and inspected. Members of the test center staff are NOT PERMITTED to collect or store devices.
Effective September 2010, a new graphing calculator policy will be introduced. Test administration staff will clear the memory of all graphing calculators both before and after test administration. ETS recommends that you back up any important information in your calculator's memory, including applications, before arriving at the test site.
When you register, you must use the exact name and spelling of your name as shown on the primary I.D. document that you will present at the test location. If the name shown on your primary I.D. does not match the name on your registration record, you will not be permitted to test and a refund will not be issued. Only misspellings of your name can be corrected at the test location – NAME CHANGES WILL NOT BE MADE. If your name has changed for any reason, including marriage, you still must present primary I.D. in the name under which you registered, or you will not be permitted to test. Marriage certificates and divorce decrees cannot be used to confirm name differences.
The Testing Center strongly recommends that examinees visit the ETS website to obtain the most current information regarding all testing policies and procedures.
