Cisco Telephone Rollout

Telephone Services is in the process of rolling out new Cisco Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) telephones across campus.  These new telephones connect via the campus data network, and offer many features not offered by our current NEC telephones.

The available telephone models are listed below.

The Cisco 7911 G is the basic single-line Phone in the Cisco lineup.  We’ll be using this phone for student worker desks, classrooms and various other courtesy phone applications.

The Cisco 7942 G is the full-featured, two-button phone that will be issued to most faculty and staff members.  It has many features, including a single button for voicemail access, and a list of directories, including missed calls.  The 7942G has a maximum of two line appearances.  Because of the friendly features of the new call pickup group we have found that in most instances additional line appearances aren’t necessary.

The Cisco 7962 G is the same as the 7942G but with six buttons for six possible line appearances.  Each department will be issued one 7962G for the main secretary.  Additional 7942G phones can be upgraded at rollout for an “upcharge” of $65 per phone.
