Exchange Program at APSU  - Sweden

sap007s.jpg (26125 bytes)  Each day the world is growing smaller, and it is vital that informed students become more fully aware of their global neighbors. It is designed to permit you to keep pace with your undergraduate program and at the same time, provide you with a unique and rich cultural experience.

Mid Sweden University is a regional university located in the center of Sweden, north of Stockholm. It has about 14,000 students spread over four different towns and campuses. The university's root's date back to the 1840s.

September- Mid December/Mid January

Mid January-Mid June

General Information

Since the summer of 1995, Austin Peay State University and Mid Sweden University in Sweden have arranged for student exchanges between the two universities. As a result, Austin Peay students area able to receive full credit toward their degree studies while learning the Swedish language and culture.

Eligibility

Austin Peay students need to be undergraduates and in good academic standing, a 2.5 GPA minimum with no Fs. APSU students participate in the introduction programs, and register for the Swedish language and culture course at Mid Sweden University. All classes are taken for degree credit.

Cost

Austin Peay students pay Austin Peay tuition. Room and board are paid at Mid Sweden University. Other expenses such as airline cost and personal expenses, etc. are borne by the students.

Scholarships

Currently held scholarships are applicable toward studies at Mid Sweden university, plus APSU scholarships for studies abroad, department scholarships, as well as financial aid where appropriate.

Classes

Both Swedish students and foreign students are taught in English. All international students register for a Swedish language/culture class. Full time studies for credit are expected by all students. Students will receive Austin Peay credit for satisfactory completion of course work.

Housing

All exchange students are guaranteed accommodations on the condition that housing is applied for at the same time as courses are applied for. Housing cost is comparable to APSU's housing costs. The majority of students live in student housing.

Deadline for Application

Completed applications should be turned in to Ms. Inga Filippo, by October 31; April 30.
