Program Location: France and Germany

Program Overview:   The curriculum consists of History 4910, The Holocaust Traveling Seminar. Lectures will be held in Strasbourg, France, with subsequent travel to sites in France and Germany. All classes and tours are in English.

General Dates: May 16 – June 9 2009

Credit Hours:  Students are eligible for 6 hours credit.

Accommodations & Meals:

The accommodations are dormitory-style including two meals per day. Also included are hotels, pensions, or hostels near the sites.

Program Costs:  The cost for the program includes: APSU tuition, books, room & board, airline & rail tickets, site admission, program fees and some personal expenses as exchange rates allow.

It is suggested to budget an additional $500 extra personal expenses based on spending habits.

The quoted prices might be adjusted because of fee changes or changes in the Dollar/Euro exchange rate.

 

Austin Peay State University reserves the right to make cancellations, date and fee adjustments, and any other changes that may be required.

 

Payment Schedule & Deadlines:

            January - $100 application fee due with application.

            March - An advance down payment is required for dormitory and travel.

 History 4910               The Holocaust Traveling Seminar

 

General Itinerary:

Day 1 : Depart from Nashville for Frankfurt, Germany

Day 2 : Arrive in Strasbourg via chartered bus from Frankfurt

Day 3-6 : Half-day classes in Chateau de Pourtales, Strasbourg;

afternoons programmed, evenings free

Day 7 : Afternoon departure for Paris via rail

Day 8-9 : Visit Le Louvre, Versailles and other Paris attractions

Day 10 : Visit Struthof Concentration Camp

Day 11 : Travel to Munich with a visit to Dachau Concentration Camp

Day 12-13 : Visit Munich

Day 14 – 15 : Visit Berchtesgaden and Salzburg

Day 16-17 : Visit Garmisch

Day 18: Travel to Nurnberg with City Tour

Day 19: Visit Rothenburg

Day 20 : Travel to Heidelberg and tour city

Day 21 : Visit Heidelberg castle and university

Day 22 : Return to U.S. via Frankfurt airport
