Observation Questions

For this assignment, you are required to make two observations and answer the following questions concerning these observations. To answer these questions, you will need to select two different students with different disabilities. You will answer the questions according to your observations for both of the students. Thus, you will need to have one set of answers for one student and another set of answers for the second student.

You answers must be typed and this paper is due December 6, 2004

Maximum 3 pages for each set of questions. Total pages should be no greater than 6 pages.

1. What disability does this student have? What are some of the characteristics of this disability?

2. How old is this student/and what grade are you observing?

3. What games/activities were conducted in class during your observation?

4. What are some of the motoric difficulties that this child possesses due to his/her disability?

5. According to the information processing model, which stage is affected by this disability?

Explain why this stage is affected.

6.How could you adapt the game/activity to overcome this difficulty in this stage of learning?

7. Select three different principles of adaptations that we discussed in class. How did the teacher adapt the game according to these three principles. If this was not done, how would you adapt the game or activity for this student according to these three principles. First, tell me the principle and then explain your answer for each.

8.What technique did the teacher use to get the child to pay attention to the lesson?. If none was used, what technique would you use to get the child to pay attention in class?

9. What social and/or motoric benefits does the child receive from participating in this adapted physical activity class?

Remember you have to answer these questions for both of the students.

You must have stapled your contract signed by the teacher for both days. Forgeries will result in failure of class.
