What is the Staff Senate?

The Staff Senate is an advisory body to the President of the University.

The Staff Senate is established as the official means by which staff may be actively involved in and contribute to the governance of the institution.

The President may refer matters to the Senate and expect a response from that body.

  • It shall investigate, consider, and act upon any matter its members think appropriate or relevant to concerns and interests of staff.
  • It shall report fully to the staff, and to other elements of the University when appropriate, on all deliberations and actions of the Staff Senate.

The Staff Senate also takes part in and organizes several charitable and developmental activities throughout the year. Events such as all staff development sessions, the Peaybay Employee Incentive Program, and Homecoming Chili Cook-off are just a few examples.

Who serves on Staff Senate?

The membership of Staff Senate is comprised of employees of APSU serving as support staff, administrative staff and professional staff.  Each selected member represents respective departments and communicates the information, suggestions, directives or assignments to their colleagues as discussed in the monthly meetings.
