Welcome to Dance Marathon 2011!
Thank you for your interest in participating in Dance Marathon 2011: Rave for the Kids. We are very excited for you to experience Dance Marathon (DM) with us this year! By participating, you are making a difference in the lives of many families a part of Children’s Miracle Network.
Being on your feet for six hours and raising $150 may seem like a lot, but we know you can do it! Although it may be tiring, you need to keep in mind the motto of Dance Marathon: “Dancing for those who can’t”. Keep in mind that this is “For the Kids”, so every dance move you make is for a good cause! As for the money, you can fundraise to reach $150, and all the money you raise will go to the Monroe Carrel Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt. Also, the teams that raise the most money for DM or have the most enthusiasm during Dance Marathon will win a prize, so keep that in mind!
Included in this packet is information on how to get started and more details about Dance Marathon. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Ashley White at Awhite30@my.apsu.edu
With your help, we know we can reach and exceed our goal for the kids! Dance Marathon is going to be packed with fun filled activities so get a team together, put on your dancing shoes, and get ready to RAVE!
When and Where?
Friday, September 23, 2011, 6:00 p.m.-12:00 a.m. in the Red Barn!
How to get started:
Get together a team of 5-10 people and register for Dance Marathon. Each team needs to raise $150 in order to participate. Once you have created a team, choose a Morale Captain who will be able to attend rehearsals for the “Morale Dance” that will be taught at Dance Marathon. This person should be reliable and able to attend the first captain meeting on Sunday September 18th in the evening and additional meetings that week (September 19th-21st). Also the Morale Captain should be energetic because he/she will be the one helping your team throughout the night.
If you are an individual dancer, you will need to raise $10 to participate, and if you want to receive a Dance Marathon shirt, the total is $15. However, whether you are an individual or on a team, you’ll still have an amazing time!
More about the Music:
There will be a live band present and a wide variety of music played through out the night. During the first hour, the focus will be “For the Kids” so don’t be surprised to hear some Justin Bieber, N’SYNC, and other great children friendly songs. Later in the evening is when “Rave For the Kids” will begin! Techno and high energy songs will be played non stop, giving you the atmosphere of a club. A full schedule is forthcoming
Activities:
Besides dancing, there will be other events present at Dance Marathon. There will be Twister, Board games, Red Rover, DDR, Hula Hoop, a Free Throw Contest, and much more! Small prizes will be given out to the winner of those games. Also, come to Dance Marathon hungry because there will be plenty of food there to fuel your dancing throughout the night!
