The Peay Pickup FAQ
What is the purpose Peay Pickup Program?
In partnership with the Clarksville Transit
System (CTS), the Student Government Association (SGA) is providing
students, faculty, and staff free transportation around the perimeter of
campus via The Peay Pickup (trolley system) and free transportation
around town on CTS buses wherever the city bus system runs currently.
The purpose of the Peay Pickup is to provide the university community
transportation from the exterior parts of campus to interior parts of
campus.
What is the history of this service?
During a special referendum, which was held in March
2008, students voted to implement the Peay Pick-up and CTS Bus Service
program. During its initial year of operation, thousands of individuals
took advantage of this service which was provided to students, faculty,
and staff.
What is the fee for the Peay Pickup trolley
and Clarksville Transit Authority busses?
Students are charged as part of the General
Access Fee on a student's semester bill. This will provide pre-paid
access for all APSU students to the Peay Pickup trolley and all bus
services currently being provided by the Clarksville Transit Authority.
APSU faculty and staff are able to use the same services as part of
their benefits.
How much is the fee?
As part of the General Access Fee each semester,
students pay $8 (each semester) for the Peay Pickup trolley service and
Clarksville Transit Authority buses.
If I am a faculty or staff member and I am
taking classes too, am I exempt from paying the fee?
No.
Are there any exemptions from the fee?
As a main campus student, every student
is assessed the General Access Fee.

How reliable is the bus service?
The Clarksville Transit Authority does its best
to offer reliable service. However, during class change times, the Peay
Pickup trolley and CTS busses are often caught in very congested traffic
conditions. Delays at certain times are unavoidable because of
automobile traffic. One thing that is certain is that the more people we
could get to ride the buses, the less traffic congestion there would be
and the more quickly all traffic could move. Also, both transit systems
will experience occasional delays caused by weather conditions, street
closings, detours and construction equipment which are beyond their
control.
What days does the trolley and buses run?
The campus Peay Pickup trolley operates Monday
through Friday when classes are in session.
