The Student Government Association encourages each
and every student on campus to participate in SGA elections. Whether
it’s running for an SGA position, or voting for one, this is your way to
have a direct impact on what happens on this campus.
If you have suggestions, ideas, or concerns about
things that happen on our campus, then we encourage you to get involved
in SGA elections. SGA is for the students, and we do our best to make
sure that we are working for what YOU want, but we need your input as
well. Help elect representatives that will continue to positively affect
this campus!
How Can I Vote? You can vote for SGA
representatives by going to www.apsu.edu,
and following the “SGA Elections” link near the center of the page.
How do SGA Elections Work?
The Student Government Association conducts the SGA elections and
works in conjunction with the SGA
Constitution, By-Laws and
Standing Rules.
Elections and referenda of SGA conform to the
Electoral Act, provided these procedures
do not conflict with the SGA Constitution, By-Laws and/or Standing
Rules.
How Are Elections Ratified? The Internal
Affairs Committee is responsible for retaining and counting write-in
votes of the SGA election. All votes are counted as soon as possible,
and a quorum of Internal Affairs members must be present to ratify
election votes. The counting of votes is open to the public, and we
encourage any student to attend the vote-counting.
What happens in the case of a recount or
run-off? The Internal Affairs Committee or the
Student Tribunal may order a recount within
twenty-four hours of certification. If a run-off election is necessary,
it will be held within 10 days and no write-in votes are allowed.
