This scholarship is named in honor of Dr. Snyder (1962-2004) for a Biology Major with a demonstrated interest in field biology and/or ecology. The award is in the range of $1000 - $2500 and is presented annually by the Biology Department. The awards committee will decide on the recipient and the decisions will then be viewed and agreed upon by faculty. The recipient will be announced at the Spring Student Awards Day ceremony. Students with an ACT score of 26 and a GPA of 3.5 or higher will be considered. Candidates should document a strong interest in field biology/ecology. Priority will be given to qualified candidates from the Clarksville/Montgomery County area. Biology Majors at the sophomore level or higher will be given priority (either undergraduate majors or graduate levels). There is the possibility that more than one recipient will be rewarded each year. It is also possible for the award to go a year without being awarded, as there must be a qualified student to receive the scholarship. This scholarship was established in 1988 in memory of Tammy Joe Milliken. Her parents, Ruth and Ervin Milliken, APSU alumna, established an endowment to create this scholarship, which is to be awarded each calendar year to a graduate of Northwest High School in Montgomery County. The recipient of this scholarship must be in the upper 25 percent of the high school graduating class, have a minimum ACT Composite score of 20 and an overall minimum GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale), be an entering freshman at Austin Peay, and should be planning to major in Communication and Theatre. This scholarship can be renewed for subsequent academic years, provided a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA is maintained each year. The monetary value of the scholarship will vary after the freshman year. The student must complete a minimum of 12 hours each semester. Selection is made by the Chair of the Communication and Theatre Department based on recommendations by department faculty members and the Northwest High school principal and faculty. This scholarship award is $1,500 for the first year and can apply to tuition, fees, books, housing, meals or any other college-related expenses. David Wesner Video Editing Scholarship

This scholarship is $1,200 annually ($600 per semester). Applicants must be full time students with at least a junior level status who are enrolled at Austin Peay and have formally declared a communication arts major and are specializing in broadcast media, internet technology or media technologies. 2.75 GPA in communication arts major required; applicants must have completed at least 15 semester hours of the communication arts major requirements. Recipient must be willing for APSU to display the creative project online and in any other forms desired by the department as well as allow for publicity by the department. Students must submit an application accompanied by a CD-ROM, DVD, MiniDVD or VHS copy of a completed digital editing and video production original, creative project. This project must have employed either Apple Final Cut Pro and/or Macromedia Flash as an element (or elements) of the original digital video production sequence.

This scholarship was established by Drs. Ellen and David Kanervo in 1988 in honor of their parents, Margery and Kibler Williamson and Mary and Arvo Kanervo. This is an endowed scholarship that will be awarded annually to a rising junior. The recipient must be a student in the area of political science or journalism. The Departments of Political Science and Journalism and the Office of Admissions will make recommendations to the General Scholarship Committee. The best qualified student from these two academic areas will be selected. The scholarship award will be $500. When the corpus has grown to a sufficient size that an additional $500 scholarship may be provided without reducing the corpus, a second scholarship will begin, one in journalism and one in political science. The recipient must be enrolled full-time with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA required for each semester. The recipient will be required to work two hours per week in the department of the student’s major. This recipient of Anneliese Helms award must be a junior or senior nursing student with financial nee and a GPA 3.1 or higher. Preference will be given to students from Montgomery and Stewart counties. To retain the scholarship,the student must reapply each year and must remain at full-time status. Also, the student must have received a 3.2 GPA the previous ear and order to be eligible for renewal and be making normal progression towards graduation

The Jack Hunt Educational Endowment was established in 2004. The award is designated for a student of senior class status who requires financial assistance in order to complete his/her final year in the degree of Nursing. This endowed scholarship is awarded in the name of John R. Corlew. The recipient should be enrolled in either biology, chemistry or physics and is open to incoming freshmen and upperclassmen in priority order: dependent of an employee of James Corlew Chevrolet-Cadillac-Oldsmobile or an affiliated company, resident of Montgomery County, Tennessee, and resident of Austin Peay’s primary service region. A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required for both awarding and renewal. Scholarship is to be renewed if GPA is maintained for up to four years.

This scholarship is open to junior or senior physics students with financial need. It provides $1,000 annually to one, or possibly two, recipients. Recipients should have completed the first two semesters of Physics major requirements and have a minimum GPA of 3.0. Award may be renewed; recipients must reapply. Priority given as follows -- students not eligible for Tennessee Lottery Scholarships, active duty military or veterans, married students or those with dependent children, students pursuing Nuclear, Radiation, Quantum, Health, or Medical physics. Applicants should complete an essay on the importance of education in American society and the future well being of our nation. The essay can be mailed to the Chair of the Physics Department, P. O. Established by John and Heidi Willis, this scholarship provides $1,000 annually to a non-traditional physics major, while they are building a permanent endowment to support the scholarship. Recipients should have a 3.0 GPA and be active duty military, veteran, or reservist. If active duty, veteran, or reservist criterion are not met priority will be given to a candidate who has a parent that is active duty, reservist, or veteran. In addition, priority will be given to a candidate who can explain in an essay the idea of freedom and what it means to them. Essays should be forwarded to the Chair of the Physics Department, P. O. The Jacob Benjamin Morris Ramos Memorial Scholarship is a scholarship that will be shared between three of our departments. The award will be made on a yearly rotating basis in the following order: Chemistry, Biology and Physics. The recipient must be a full-time, non-traditional student earning a 3.25 GPA or better. The award will first be offered to a senior. A junior may be selected if a senior is not available. Special consideration will be given to Montgomery County residents as well as an active XEM, BBB, or Del Square Psi member. Austin Peay State University reserves the right to cancel or change the amount, eligibility criteria and/or deadline of this scholarship, at anytime.
The Williamson-Kanervo Scholarship

This scholarship was established by Drs. Ellen and David Kanervo in 1988 in honor of their parents, Margery and Kibler Williamson and Mary and Arvo Kanervo. This is an endowed scholarship that will be awarded annually to a rising junior. The recipient must be a student in the area of political science or journalism. The Departments of Political Science and Journalism and the Office of Admissions will make recommendations to the General Scholarship Committee. The best qualified student from these two academic areas will be selected. The scholarship award will be $500. When the corpus has grown to a sufficient size that an additional $500 scholarship may be provided without reducing the corpus, a second scholarship will begin, one in journalism and one in political science. The recipient must be enrolled full-time with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA required for each semester. The recipient will be required to work two hours per week in the department of the student’s major. The Warren-Northington Political Science Scholarship is established in memory of Vernon, Sr. and Delta Warren and M.C. III and Nancy Northington. The scholarship also is in memory of Dr. Vernon Warren, Professor of Political Science, who taught at Austin Peay for 38 years. Dr. Vernon Warren's wife, Nell Northington Warren, finalized the establishment of this scholarship in October 2005 after Dr. Warren's death on September 13, 2005. The scholarship will be awarded to a freshman political science student who is enrolled full-time and maintains a 3.0 GPA.
