Mr. and Mrs. Richard C. Bibb Scholarship Endowment

Accounting Alumni Scholarship

Funds raised by contributions from accounting alumni and friends provide four $500 scholarships annually to accounting majors. Two scholarships are designated for incoming first time college students with a declared concentration of accounting in the Business major. The second scholarship is for a student already enrolled in the accounting degree program. Both awards are non-renewable, but the recipients may reapply.

Rehabilitation Corporation of Tennessee Scholarships

The Tennessee Rehabilitation Corporation awards four scholarships of $1000 each, available to students majoring in agriculture. The applicant must be a native of Tennessee, be in need of financial help to enter or remain in college, be from a rural area with an agricultural background, and be deserving of the scholarship on the basis of academic promise.

Tennessee Council for Cooperatives Agriculture Scholarship

The Tennessee Council of Cooperatives provides one $500 scholarship to an APSU agriculture student. The recipient must be a citizen of Tennessee, have a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA, and the student or parent must be a member of an agricultural cooperative. Mrs. Monique Hull Scholarship Endowment

This scholarship is in honor of Mrs. Monique Hull. The recipient must have at least a 3.0 GPA and a 21 ACT. Preference will be given to students from Montgomery County and the local region. This art scholarship will have an award amount up to $1500.

Friends of the Arts Scholarship

The Friends of the Arts provide three scholarships per year to students majoring in each of the three applied areas of the arts: Art, Music, and Theatre. Recipients must be rising sophomores who do not have a performance scholarship, but may have other types of aid. Recipients must have a 3.0 minimum GPA for their first year at Austin Peay and must retain a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA for renewal of the one-year award. Helena H. Marsh Scholarship

Tom Malone Memorial Scholarship in Studio Art

 Claudell Wootton Scholarship

This scholarship was established by the Mark S. and Martha Em Raby family in honor of Claudell Wootton and will be awarded to a student planning a career in art education. Need and teaching potential must be demonstrated. A written essay must be submitted. The essay should address in 300 to 500 words why the applicant is choosing a career in teaching visual arts when society places so much value on sciences, math and technology. The essay should be mailed to the address below. If desired, the applicant could include a sample lesson plan. Selection will be made by the art department. Art Alumni Scholarship

Initiated by Robin Moore, this is an academic department/ performance scholarship. The amount is $500 annually, depending on availability of funds. A GPA of 3.0 is required, no work requirement, recipient may reapply. Recipient must be sophomore standing or above, focusing in graphic design or photography, demonstrating outstanding creative performance. Selection based on portfolio review. Jewel Birdsong Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to a declared art major. Requirements include a 3.0 GPA and a written essay. The essay should be 300 to 500 words in length and discuss the applicant's opinion of offering society the opportunity to view original works of art at no cost. The essay also should address how this scholarship might benefit the applicant's educational goals. The essay should be mailed to the address below. Carlos Brewer Friends of Photography Scholarship

Friends of Photography is a not for profit association of beginning to advanced photographers from Clarksville/Montgomery County dedicated to the advancement of photographic knowledge and inspiration. This scholarship, in memory of Dr. Carlos Brewer, provides an award to a student majoring in fine arts with an emphasis in photography. A sample of creative work must be submitted. The amount of the scholarship will be determined at the time of award based on funds available. A minimum GPA of 2.5 is required and student may be either full or part-time. Chloe and Watkins Northington Memorial Art Scholarship

Professor Bruce A. Childs Senior Honors Scholarship provides a scholarship to an 
outstanding senior. The recipient must be a senior Art major with at least a 3.0 GPA.  The recipient must also be willing to write an essay and prepare a digital portfolio of 10-20 images to be sent to the donor.  For additional information contact the Art Department.

The scholarship committee of the Art Department will select the recipient for the Professor Bruce Childs Scholarship.  The recipient must be a sophomore, junior or senior art major with a minimum GPA of 3.2 or show outstanding artistic ability.  Financial need must be established in order to receive this scholarship.  Recipients must maintain full-time enrollment status.  If a sophomore or junior receives this scholarship he/she may have this renewed if the student maintains a GPA of 3.0 or higher and meets all other Austin Peay State University requirements for full-time students.

APPLICATION DEADLINE - March 1st

This scholarship is named in honor of Dr. Snyder (1962-2004) for a Biology Major with a demonstrated interest in field biology and/or ecology. The award is in the range of $1000 - $2500 and is presented annually by the Biology Department. The awards committee will decide on the recipient and the decisions will then be viewed and agreed upon by faculty. The recipient will be announced at the Spring Student Awards Day ceremony. Students with an ACT score of 26 and a GPA of 3.5 or higher will be considered. Candidates should document a strong interest in field biology/ecology. Priority will be given to qualified candidates from the Clarksville/Montgomery County area. Biology Majors at the sophomore level or higher will be given priority (either undergraduate majors or graduate levels). There is the possibility that more than one recipient will be rewarded each year. It is also possible for the award to go a year without being awarded, as there must be a qualified student to receive the scholarship. This scholarship can be renewable, in the event that the student remains the top candidate; however the recipients will be required to reapply annually. * Priority will be given to the children of Dr. David Snyder * Priority will be given to Clarksville Academy students * Dr. Dave Snyder’s widow, Mrs. Kathy Petty will be asked to sit in on the awards committee each year, given that a Snyder family member is NOT a candidate.

This scholarship is available to students majoring in biology programs with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA and demonstrated financial need. Candidates should be of at least Junior standing at time of disbursement. Special consideration is given to students seeking teacher licensure. Eligible students who are nominated by faculty will be notified early in the spring semester and asked to submit application for the award. Final selection will be made by a Biology Department Committee. This award is administered by the APSU Alumni Association with funds provided by the Phillips family and friends in recognition of Dr. and Ms. Phillips’ professional contribution to education. This scholarship was established in 2001 in memory of Evelyn Ross Hinson. It will be awarded annually to a female student interested in a career in health sciences with preference given to someone with an interest in a physical therapy career. This endowed scholarship is awarded in the name of John R. Corlew. The recipient should be enrolled in either biology, chemistry or physics and is open to incoming freshmen and upperclassmen in priority order: dependent of an employee of James Corlew Chevrolet-Cadillac-Oldsmobile or an affiliated company, resident of Montgomery County, Tennessee, and resident of Austin Peay’s primary service region. A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required for both awarding and renewal. Scholarship is to be renewed if GPA is maintained for up to four years.

John Joseph Flood Memorial Scholarship

Durward Harris Scholarship

This scholarship of $1,000 will be awarded to a student who is pursuing Premedicine, has completed at least 48 hours at Austin Peay, has successfully completed Organic Chemistry with at least a “B” in lectures and labs, and a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA. Applications will be reviewed and the recipient selected by a scholarship committee to include Dr. Phil Roe or his designee. Deadline for application is April 15.

Jacob Benjamin Morris Ramos Memorial Scholarship

The Jacob Benjamin Morris Ramos Memorial Scholarship is a scholarship that will be shared between three of our departments.  The award will be made on a yearly rotating basis in the following order:  Chemistry, Biology and Physics.  The recipient must be a full-time, non-traditional student earning a 3.25 GPA or better.  The award will first be offered to a senior.  A junior may be selected if a senior is not available.  Special consideration will be given to Montgomery County residents as well as an active XEM, BBB, or Del Square Psi member.  Austin Peay State University reserves the right to cancel or change the amount, eligibility criteria and/or deadline of this scholarship, at anytime.

The John Rolland Corlew Memorial Scholarship

Established by Betty and James Corlew, Sr., the interest on this endowed scholarship provides approximately $2,500 annually to a student enrolled in the School of Business at APSU. This scholarship was established in 1988 in memory of Tammy Joe Milliken. Her parents, Ruth and Ervin Milliken, APSU alumna, established an endowment to create this scholarship, which is to be awarded each calendar year to a graduate of Northwest High School in Montgomery County. The recipient of this scholarship must be in the upper 25 percent of the high school graduating class, have a minimum ACT Composite score of 20 and an overall minimum GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale), be an entering freshman at Austin Peay, and should be planning to major in Communication and Theatre. This scholarship can be renewed for subsequent academic years, provided a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA is maintained each year. The monetary value of the scholarship will vary after the freshman year. The student must complete a minimum of 12 hours each semester. Selection is made by the Chair of the Communication and Theatre Department based on recommendations by department faculty members and the Northwest High school principal and faculty. This scholarship award is $1,500 for the first year and can apply to tuition, fees, books, housing, meals or any other college-related expenses. David Wesner Video Editing Scholarship

This scholarship is $1,200 annually ($600 per semester). Applicants must be full time students with at least a junior level status who are enrolled at Austin Peay and have formally declared a communication arts major and are specializing in broadcast media, internet technology or media technologies. 2.75 GPA in communication arts major required; applicants must have completed at least 15 semester hours of the communication arts major requirements. Recipient must be willing for APSU to display the creative project online and in any other forms desired by the department as well as allow for publicity by the department. Students must submit an application accompanied by a CD-ROM, DVD, MiniDVD or VHS copy of a completed digital editing and video production original, creative project. This project must have employed either Apple Final Cut Pro and/or Macromedia Flash as an element (or elements) of the original digital video production sequence.

The Williamson-Kanervo Scholarship

This scholarship was established by Drs. Ellen and David Kanervo in 1988 in honor of their parents, Margery and Kibler Williamson and Mary and Arvo Kanervo. This is an endowed scholarship that will be awarded annually to a rising junior. The recipient must be a student in the area of political science or journalism. The Departments of Political Science and Journalism and the Office of Admissions will make recommendations to the General Scholarship Committee. The best qualified student from these two academic areas will be selected. The scholarship award will be $500. When the corpus has grown to a sufficient size that an additional $500 scholarship may be provided without reducing the corpus, a second scholarship will begin, one in journalism and one in political science. The recipient must be enrolled full-time with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA required for each semester. The recipient will be required to work two hours per week in the department of the student’s major. This scholarship was established in 1968 by Cheatham County Health Care Associates and provides $500 per academic year (divided equally over two semesters) to a graduate of Cheatham County Central High School planning to enter APSU as a full-time student majoring in a health-care related field. This scholarship may be renewed provided the student maintains a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA as of the second semester, and is enrolled full-time in a health-care related field. If there are no applicants from Cheatham County Central High School, this scholarship will be offered to a graduate of Harpeth High School. Awards are made by May 1. Graduating seniors should apply through the high school guidance office by March 31. Selection will be made by the Cheatham Health Care Associate Scholarship Committee and will be announced at the annual awards banquet.

Alex P. Wootton, Jr. Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was established in 1990 by Mark S. and Martha Em Raby in recognition of Mrs. Raby’s father’s dedication to the community and significant involvement in public service. Alex Wootton was instrumental in establishing the EMS services in Clarksville/Montgomery County. This is an endowed scholarship to be awarded to a student in financial need who participates in volunteer service with a special interest toward enhancing the safety and welfare of citizens (such as emergency medical services, rescue squad, volunteer fire department, etc.). Interest on the endowment will provide the annual scholarship award and may be renewed provided the student maintains a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA. All awards will be made in honor of oncology nurses and staff of the University Medical Center - Cancer Care Center - in Lebanon, Tennessee in appreciation for their care, dedication and compassion. Also, the student must have received a 3.2 GPA the previous ear and order to be eligible for renewal and be making normal progression towards graduation

The recipient should be enrolled in either biology, chemistry or physics and is open to incoming freshmen and upperclassmen in priority order: dependent of an employee of James Corlew Chevrolet-Cadillac-Oldsmobile or an affiliated company, resident of Montgomery County, Tennessee, and resident of Austin Peay’s primary service region. This scholarship is open to junior or senior physics students with financial need. It provides $1,000 annually to one, or possibly two, recipients. Recipients should have completed the first two semesters of Physics major requirements and have a minimum GPA of 3.0. Award may be renewed; recipients must reapply. Priority given as follows -- students not eligible for Tennessee Lottery Scholarships, active duty military or veterans, married students or those with dependent children, students pursuing Nuclear, Radiation, Quantum, Health, or Medical physics. Established by John and Heidi Willis, this scholarship provides $1,000 annually to a non-traditional physics major, while they are building a permanent endowment to support the scholarship. Recipients should have a 3.0 GPA and be active duty military, veteran, or reservist. If active duty, veteran, or reservist criterion are not met priority will be given to a candidate who has a parent that is active duty, reservist, or veteran. In addition, priority will be given to a candidate who can explain in an essay the idea of freedom and what it means to them.  Essays should be forwarded to the Chair of the Physics Department, P. O. The Jacob Benjamin Morris Ramos Memorial Scholarship is a scholarship that will be shared between three of our departments.  The award will be made on a yearly rotating basis in the following order:  Chemistry, Biology and Physics.  The recipient must be a full-time, non-traditional student earning a 3.25 GPA or better.  The award will first be offered to a senior.  A junior may be selected if a senior is not available.  Special consideration will be given to Montgomery County residents as well as an active XEM, BBB, or Del Square Psi member.  Austin Peay State University reserves the right to cancel or change the amount, eligibility criteria and/or deadline of this scholarship, at anytime.

Political Science

The Williamson-Kanervo Scholarship

This scholarship was established by Drs. Ellen and David Kanervo in 1988 in honor of their parents, Margery and Kibler Williamson and Mary and Arvo Kanervo. This is an endowed scholarship that will be awarded annually to a rising junior. The recipient must be a student in the area of political science or journalism. The Departments of Political Science and Journalism and the Office of Admissions will make recommendations to the General Scholarship Committee. The best qualified student from these two academic areas will be selected. The scholarship award will be $500. When the corpus has grown to a sufficient size that an additional $500 scholarship may be provided without reducing the corpus, a second scholarship will begin, one in journalism and one in political science. The recipient must be enrolled full-time with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA required for each semester. The recipient will be required to work two hours per week in the department of the student’s major. The Warren-Northington Political Science Scholarship is established in memory of Vernon, Sr. and Delta Warren and M.C. III and Nancy Northington. The scholarship also is in memory of Dr. Vernon Warren, Professor of Political Science, who taught at Austin Peay for 38 years. Dr. Vernon Warren's wife, Nell Northington Warren, finalized the establishment of this scholarship in October 2005 after Dr. Warren's death on September 13, 2005.
