Accreditation or Program review activities from 2002-03 academic year.
In February 2003 the School of Nursing hosted an on-site re-accreditation team from the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) for evaluation and review related to re-affirmation of accreditation of the BSN program. The team was very complimentary of the self-study reported submitted, as well as of the evidence room preparation and documentation. The preliminary on-site verbal report and written report by the on-site team was supportive of full re-accreditation for the maximum time period allowed by NLNAC which is eight years. The process proceeds from the on-site visit through 2 additional levels of review including a national panel of peer reviewers and the NLNAC Board of Commissioners.  In June, the second panel (national peer review) was conducted and the panel recommended approval of full accreditation for eight years.  The NLNAC Board of Commissioners will be conducting the final level of review in July of 2003.
In March 2003, the School of Nursing hosted a review team from the Tennessee State Board of Nursing at which time they conducted an on-site evaluation review for continuing approval of the BSN program. While the program is reviewed via self-reported data annually, an on-site review is required every five years. The School of Nursing was notified in May 2003 of the board's re-affirmation of full re-approval of the BSN program.

New initiatives, activities or programs from the 2002-03 academic year.
Each upper division nursing course was converted to a web-enhanced format.  Transition of the RN-BSN degree completion program from an on-ground to an on-line delivery format was initiated and continues to be in progress.

A proposal for the reduction of hours required for completion of the BSN dgree from 137 to 120 was approved by the School of Nursing faculty and by the College Curriculum Committee. Final approval from the APSU Academic Counsel and TBR is pending.

A proposal for initiation of a MSN program was completed and approved by the   School of Nursing faculty, College Curriculum Committee and APSU Academic Counsel.  The proposal was submitted to TBR, at which point the Deans and Directors of BSN programs within the TBR system were asked to develop a collaborative MSN program online (RODP). A proposal for such a program is in the process of being developed.
