Accreditation or Program review activities from 2002-03 academic year.
This office is responsible for oversight of the accreditation and program review activities of APSU.  In the past year, five departments (English, Foreign Languages, Sociology, Psychology, and Geography) have gone through program review activities.  These reviews involved a self-study, on-site visit of a three person team, and followup report with recommendations.  Copies of these reports are available through the office of Academic Affairs.

New initiatives, activities or programs from the 2002-03 academic year.
In addition to the goals and objectives outlined in this 2002-03 report, this office was very active in several areas during the last year.  During that time one of the major commitments was to the Compliance Audit process for APSU's reaffirmation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).  The AVPAA was involved with the leadership team - Sherry Hoppe (President), Bruce Speck (VPAA), and Susan Calovini (Chair of Languages & Literature) - in pulling together this internal self-study of the operations of Austin Peay.  This task will be completed on July 31, 2003 and the project reviewed by SACS in early fall of 2003.

This unit also headed up a major review of the Office of Financial Aid and Veterans Affairs during the 2002-03 academic year.  Through a series of peer reviews and internal analyses, the office was reorganized effective July 1, 2003.  Ms. Donna Price, formerly Associate Director of Admissions, will serve as Interim Director for Financial Aid and Veterans Affairs from June 1, 2003 through June 30, 2004.

The Institutional Effectiveness Tracking System also came to maturity during the past year.  Though review of the system is an on-going task, June 30, 2003, found the first full cycle of information being placed into the web based documentation system.  This continues to be a major project of the office of Academic Affairs.
