University Recreation offers a wide variety of classes that allow you to get a great workout with a group of like-minded individuals. Formats range from 10-minute focused sessions to a full hour of dancing. This program is intended to be drop-in in nature, so that anyone can attend a class at any point during the semester. Unless otherwise specified, classes are taught at an intermediate level, while the instructors provide suggestions to make it easier or harder according to your personal fitness level. Classes are free to University Recreation patrons.

Try out different classes and meet our instructors at the Group Fitness Sampler.

Dress Code Notes

For a more detailed description of requirements, see the University Recreation dress code.

  • Dress code parameters may be adjusted to accommodate certain class formats. For example, bare feet or stocking fee are permissible in mind-body classes (i.e., yoga and Pilates) and some dance classes, such as belly dance.
  • While some dance formats lend themselves to high heels or hard soled shoes, these cause excessive wear, possibly even damage, to the wood floors and are therefore prohibited.
