Aerial Silks

Overview

Aerial Silks is a fusion of yoga, pilates, aerial inspired dance, and fitness movements/exercises performed either partially or fully suspended. This program is great for anyone looking to add a new challenge to their workout, try something different and have fun. This program is for all fitness levels; every exercise/movement can be modified to suit your abilities. These 6-week long sessions will be held on a Gym Court in the Foy Center. The attire that should be worn for these classes areaerial silks - maegan doing floating backbend

During the school semester, Level 1 and Level 2 sessions are offered. Level 1 is for those brand new to aerial or maybe just need to refine some skills. Level 2 is for more experienced participants. Participants will need approval from instructors before signing up for the Level 2 class. Aerial Instructors have the final say on whether or not a participant can move up to Level 2. 

Aerial Silks Level 2

Aerial Silks-Level 2 is offered for the more advanced participants. Participants must meet certain criteria before attending. If you register for Aerial Silks-Level 2, please be aware of the requirements below. If you do not meet these skills, please register for Level 1.

 

Registration & Payment

Registration & payment must be completed before attending any session or class, either online or at the Foy Fitness & Recreation Center. Accepted forms of payment include cash, check, credit/debit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express). Registration fee covers all classes during the entire session. Fees are only refundable in the event University Recreation cancels the program session.

  • Session 1: September 3 - October 10
    • Level 1 - Monday & Wednesday, 5- 6 pm
    • Level 2 - Monday & Wednesday, 6 - 7 pm
      • Registration opens Monday August 13!
  • Session 2: October 22 - November 27
    • Level 1 - Monday & Wednesday, 5 - 6 pm
    • Level 2 - Monday & Wednesday, 6 - 7 pm
      • Registration opens Monday October 8!

Aerial Conditioning can be a stepping stone to, or an additional workout to, Aerial Silks or just a new fitness challenge! All levels are welcome and no experience required! Work on building endurance, strength and flexibility to help refine Aerial Silks movements so you're better able to perform in the air.

  • Session 1: September 6 - October 11
    • Every Thursday, 4:30-5:30 pm
      • Registration opens Monday August 13!
  • Session 2: October 25 - November 29
    • Every Thursday. 4:30-5:30 pm
      • Registration opens Monday October 8!

If you've been wanting to try Aerial Silks or Aerial Conditioning but can't commit to an entire session, come to one of the drop-in classes! Participants must pay at the front desk of the Foy Fitness & Recreation Center and bring the receipt to the instructor to be allowed access

 

Due to class size limitations, separate days will be scheduled for drop-in classes for silks and conditioning. Those days and times will be posted here and on Facebook and Instagram. Follow @apsufoy for more information!
