Adventure Recreation
Philosophy
University Recreation's Adventure Recreation trips/outings are
cooperative adventures aimed to empower people. Each participant is expected
to act as an equal member of the group, regardless of skill level or prior
experience. For this reason, it is extremely important that each person
participate on trips suited to their skill level. Each participant must be
capable of accurately and honestly assessing their skill level and openly
communicating with the group. No person should ever participate in an
activity in which they are not skilled or equipped to handle alone if
necessary. University Recreation wants people to develop their own skills
and self-reliance, to communicate and work as a group. This is much more
rewarding than simply following a leader.
