Graduation Checklist
  1. Complete all degree requirements on your degree audit.
  2. Apply for degree by the published deadline.
  3. Submit all subs/waivers by application deadline date.
  4. Pay graduation fee in the Business Office.
  5. Take the Senior Exit Exam and Major Exit Exam (if applicable)http://www.apsu.edu/ire/senior_exam/index.htm
  6. Fill out paperwork for participation in the Commencement Ceremony.
  7. Pick up cap, gown, and tassel from bookstore once available.
  8. Go to rehearsal for Commencement.
  9. Commencement

Detailed Checklist for Graduation:

1.  Please follow the degree requirements listed on your degree evaluation through AP Self Service.  If a substitution or waiver has been approved, please have your advisor forward the paperwork to the Office of the Registrar as soon as it is approved.

2. You must file an application for degree by the published deadline for the term in which you are graduating.  This is typically the end of January for May degree completion, first week of June for August degree completion, and the first week of September for December degree completion.  This application must be filed even if you do not wish to participate in the commencement ceremony.  

3.  All substitutions and waivers (if applicable) must be received by the Office of the Registrar by the application for degree deadline date.

4.  Once you have filed your application for degree, you will need to pay your graduation fee by the end of the term in which you are graduating.  This fee is required of all degree candidates even if you do not plan on participating in the commencement ceremony.  This fee pays for your cap, gown, tassel, diploma, and diploma cover.  Please retain your receipt to present to the university bookstore to receive your cap, gown, and tassel once they are available.  Master's degree candidates will need to purchase their hood separately.  Also, degree candidates who are receiving honors will also need to purchase their honor cords.

Fees:
Associates Degrees = $25
Bachelor Degrees = $30
Master and Education Specialist Degrees = $35

To graduate with honors you must have achieved the following Cumulative Grade Point Averages prior to the semester of commencement:

 

Undergraduate

Cum Laude:  3.500-3.699

Magna Cum Laude:  3.700-3.899

Summa Cum Laude:  3.900-4.000

 

Graduate

With Honor:  3.85 or higher

5. All Bachelor Degree candidates must take the Senior Exit Exam during the term in which they apply for degree.  Please register at this site:  http://www.apsu.edu/ire/senior_exam/index.htm  Some departments require a major exit exam.  This must also be taken during the term in which they apply for degree.  Please contact your departmental secretary for further details.

***Diplomas will not be issued unless these exams have been completed.

6.  You will be sent a letter midway in the term asking you to confirm your plans for the commencement ceremony.  These forms must be completed and returned to the Office of the Registrar by the deadline date to ensure your participation in the commencement ceremony.

7.  Diplomas will be issued four to six weeks after the commencement ceremony.  You may wish to have your diploma mailed if you live outside the Montgomery County area.  If you need to show proof of your graduation before your diploma is issued, you may request a transcript through our website, office, or fax.
