College Algebra

Functions are the most pervasive mathematical model of the real world.  Functions are a building-block of the language and the logic of mathematics.  Take college algebra, and build an understanding of this very important mathematical tool!

The Details

Math 1710 -- College Algebra
3 credit hours
This course does not fulfill the general education core requirement for mathematics for students following the 2004-5 catalog or later.

Prerequisite

High school Algebra I, geometry and Algebra II.

 

 

Course Description

A study of functions and their representations with emphasis on the use of functions in problem solving and modeling contexts.  Topics include polynomial functions, rational functions, power and root functions, inverse functions, and systems of equations.
