Clinical Psychology Concentration -- Course Requirements
(51-57 hours)

A Tennessee License as a Psychological Examiner requires a satisfactory score on the licensing examination. The following courses or their equivalent are required as preparation for licensure.

Prerequisites: 18 hours in psychology. Recommended undergraduate preparation in the following areas: statistics, psychological testing, human development, learning, physiological, abnormal, and personality.

Required:  
Core (15-18 hours)

  • PSY 5090 Social and Community Psychology (3)
  • PSY 5100 Advanced Physiological Psychology (3)
  • PSY 5110 Lifespan Development (3)
  • PSY 5190 Psychological Assessment (3)
  • PSY 5300 Learning and Cognition (3)
  • PSY 5080 Advanced Abnormal (not core, but essential for TN/KY Licensing Exam)

Research Methodology (9 hours)

  • PSY 5130 Statistics and Data Analysis (3)
  • PSY 5990 Thesis (6)

Counseling (9 hours)

  • PSY 5400 Theories of Counseling (3)
  • PSY 5410 Counseling Practicum I (3)
  • PSY 5420 Counseling Practicum II (3)

Assessment (9 hours)
