Morgan Halfhill, APSU Physics Major, is Chosen to be APSU's Homecoming Queen for  2006

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Austin Peay State University 2006 Homecoming Queen is a Clarksville woman and physics major. The queen and king candidates are chosen by popular vote of the student body, with the king and queen selected by interview of a committee of faculty, staff, students and alumni.

Morgan Halfhill, daughter of Brad and Donna Halfhill of Clarksville, was crowned queen during halftime of the Govs Homecoming game today. Halfhill, who was sponsored by Alpha Gamma Rho, is a physics major with a minor in math. Among Halfhill’s honors, she was named Philanthropic Student Leader of the Year for 2005. She is president of both Del Square Psi physics and astronomy club and Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority. She is active in the Society of Physics Students and also serves as a housing resident assistant and a tutor in the Academic Support Center on campus.

Homecoming King Kelvin Pollard II, son of Kelvin and Geraldine Pollard of Memphis, is majoring in biology with a minor in chemistry. His sponsor was Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. A member of the President’s Emerging Leaders Program and Alpha Lambda Delta honorary, Pollard is president of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. He was a 2006 mentor in the summer 2006 ASTAR program for African American high school students. He is second vice president of National Pan-Hellenic Council and a MAAPS Scholar.

In the 2006 Homecoming Queen’s court are Elizabeth Anne May, Humboldt, Optimum Beatrisa Robinson, Memphis, Stevie Beth Artz, Greenbrier, and Diana Wooten, Clarksville. The King’s Court is Landon Bevier, Dover, Jared Epps, Springfield, and Scott Cochran and Nicholas Lee Craig, both of Clarksville. - Dennie B. Burke
