Distributive Teaching Major (48 hours)

Students completing this program will satisfy the State of Tennessee guidelines for licensure to teach physics and general science. 

Required courses are:

  • Astr 1210 PlanetaryAstronomy OR Astr 1220 Stellar Astronomy (4 hours)

  • Phys 2110, 2120 University Physics (10 hours)

  • Phys 3000 Theoretical Methods For Scientists And Engineers (4 hours)

  • Phys 3100 Optics (3 hours)

  • Phys 3700/3701 Modern Physics with Lab (4 hours)

  • Phys 3901 Radioactivity Lab (1 hour)

  • Biol 1010, 1020 General Biology (8 hours)

  • Biol 4400 Teaching Science In High School (3 hours)

  • Chem 1010, 1020 Chemistry - Society and the Environment  OR Chem 1110, 1120 General Chemistry (8 hours)

  • Geol 1110, 1120 Physical, Historical Geology (8 hours)

  • Math 1910, 1920 Calculus and Analytic Geometry (10 hours)

Requires a Professional Education Minor (30 hours).  15 hours of Student Teaching are required for licensure.
