Application and award information for Phi Kappa Phi Graduate Fellowships
Purpose
To support first-year graduate or professional study, normally undertaken within a year following receipt of the baccalaureate degree.
To apply
Must be active member of Phi Kappa Phi on the date the awards are made. Applications will be accepted from individuals selected for membership but not yet initiated. Must have applied to enroll as a candidate for an advanced degree in graduate or professional school, preferably in an American college or university. Students registering in a professional school such as law, medicine, or engineering as well as individuals pursuing academic programs in fine, applied, and performing arts are eligible. Application must be filed for chapter selection with Dr. Jeanie Randall by the established deadline.
Application must be completed on special forms provided by Dr. Jeanie Randall. No photocopies of application materials are allowed.
Selection
Applicants submit all materials to Dr. Jeanie Randall by the established deadline. One applicant who is deemed most worthy is selected by the chapter’s selection committee. This application is forwarded to the National Office by the established deadline.The Fellowship Committee reviews applications submitted by chapters (no more than 1 per chapter) then recommends worthy applicants for selection by the Board of Directors of the Society. In addition to scholastic achievement and test scores, primary consideration is given to the applicant’s promise of success in graduate or professional work, experience (including academic, civic service and leadership outside of the classroom), evaluation by instructors, and expression of study and career goals. Generally, 50 Fellowships paying up to $7,000 each and 30 Awards of Excellence of $1,000 each are awarded.
Awards are normally announced by the National Office in April each year.
