Do I need to
register for the Summer Welcome Program?
Yes, the
Admissions Office will be sending information about the summer welcome
program beginning in early May. Included in this mailing
will be information about how you go about making a reservation for a
Summer Welcome session. We strongly encourage you to
register early. By registering early you are more likely to secure a
place for the Summer Welcome program date that most meets your needs.
Should my parents
or other family members come?
Yes, parents and
other family members are encouraged to come with you so that they may
attend the APSU Family Member session. This session is designed
specifically for your parents or other family members. It is an
opportunity to address their concerns about your transition into
college and is designed to help them understand the life changes that
you will be experiencing.
Will I have the
opportunity to meet with representatives from Student Financial Aid?
Yes, at the end of
your last session we have provided an opportunity for you to meet individually
with a representative from the Student Financial Aid office to discuss
your specific needs. For additional information please visit the

Will I have an
opportunity to learn more about on-campus housing or visit one of the
APSU Residence Halls?
Yes, at the end of
your last session you and your family members will have the opportunity to tour
selected residence halls. You also will be able to speak with Housing,
Residence Life and Dining Services staff. If you would like more
information concerning Housing and Residence Life visit their web
site, www.apsu.edu/housing or call 931-221-7444.
Should I plan on
being at Austin Peay for the entire day?
No, each Summer
Welcome program is designed to last one-half day. During the
time you are here, you will meet with a faculty advisor and register
for classes. Please review your information from our Admissions
Office to verify check-in times and ending times.
Do I
have to participate in Orientation?
Yes,
all freshmen (first-time, full-time) must participate on August
24,25. Activities on August 26 are optional. Orientation
activities are a part of your APSU 1000 class.
Do I
have to participate in Freshman Convocation?
Yes,
4:00 p.m., Thursday, August 24th at the Dunn Center. Family members are
encouraged to attend. A family BBQ will immediately follow convocation.
Is there a fee
for the Summer Welcome and Orientation?
Yes, there is a
fee for all new students. The
cost of this program is $60.00 and will be included in your Fall 2006
fees. This mandatory fee will appear on your Fall 2006 fee statement
payable no later than August 23, 2006.
Is there a fee
for the Family Member Session?
No, there is not a
fee for the Family Member Session.
