·        **Must be admitted to the School of Nursing to begin nursing courses.

Many NURS prefix courses contain a clinical component which constitutes a designated number of the total course credit hours. Designated clinical credit hours may be found in the course description section of the University Bulletin. Student credit hours are described as follows: one (1) theory credit hour equals fifty (55) contact minutes each week throughout the semester. One (1) clinical credit hour equals 110 contact minutes each week throughout the semester.

Curriculum is full time for pre-licensure students. RN-BSN degree completion students may select a part time curriculum option.

Progression

A grade of “C” or better is required to pass any nursing course and to progress in the curriculum. When a course has a clinical component, the student must pass both the theory and the clinical component in order to pass the course. The policy on progression is available from the Director of the School of Nursing.

RN-BSN COMPLETION PROGRAM

(Post-licensure--for RN's who desire to complete the BSN)

Admission requirements to the RN-BSN track are the same as for the pre-licensure program. Applicants must complete nursing prerequisite courses and all but 6 hours of general education core requirements prior to admission to upper level nursing courses. In addition, authorization to practice as a registered nurse either by licensure or board authorization must be documented at the time of entrance. Upper division credit status must be determined by the RN-BSN coordinator or Director at the time of initial application for specified nursing courses. To receive escrow transfer credit for lower division nursing courses, students must submit verification of graduation from an NLNAC accredited program and document employment as an RN within the past three years at the time of application.

Students not graduating from an NLNAC accredited program must take College Examinations or courses as specifically advised by the RN-BSN coordinator or School of Nursing Director.

The RN-BSN track program begins in the summer term each year. The RN-BSN nursing major includes: Nurs.3010,3120,3150,3180,4010,4070,4050,4080,4120
