Student organizations at Austin Peay State University include social sororities and fraternities, professional and honor societies, departmental clubs, and various religious organizations. Additionally, nursing students have opportunities to participate in several discipline specific organizations.
Student members of the APSNA are introduced to the professional role of political activism in nursing. Members of the APSNA shall be enrolled in the Austin Peay State University School of Nursing. Honorary members shall consist of all students enrolled in APSU who are pre-nursing majors. Membership in the APSNA is optional but highly recommended as an integral portion of the preparation of the professional nurse. Information on membership can be obtained in the office of the School of Nursing or from the faculty a advisor.

Sigma Theta Tau is committed to fostering excellence, scholarship and leadership in nursing to improve health care world wide. The Society promotes the use of nursing research in health care delivery and makes its resources available to all people and institutions interested in the latest knowledge in nursing care.
Membership is by invitation, conferred on students in baccalaureate and graduate nursing programs who demonstrate excellence in scholarship, and to qualified college graduates demonstrating exceptional achievement in nursing.
