Workshop marks 25th anniversary of APSU social work program

The department of social work will offer a daylong workshop for social work majors and graduates from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 24.

The workshop marks the 25th anniversary of the APSU social work program.

Dr. Jim Nixon, founder of the social work program, retired chair of the sociology department and former dean of the College of Arts and Sciences is the guest speaker.

The workshops will highlight careers in social work. Representatives of the Department of Children's Services and Youth Villages will be on hand to meet students who may be interesting in working with children.

Mayor John E. Piper will issue a proclamation making April 24 Social Work Day, and Dr. Sherry Hoppe will be on hand to great workshop participants.
