The annual enrollment period is Oct. 15 through Nov. 15. And according to Bob Bird, executive director of human resources, no changes can be accepted after that date, so employees should begin a careful examination of their current plan. His office is sending out information to assist with that process.
"We sent out enrollment booklets for our flexible enrollment benefits last Friday," says Bird. "Employees should consider this program carefully, as it creates FICA savings for them and the University."
To ensure that employees are aware of the benefits available to them as Austin Peay employees, the human resources office is sponsoring its annual Benefits Fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 4. The fair will be held in the armory. "Our retirement and insurance providers will be there and can assist employees with questions," Bird says. "We encourage all employees to attend."
Bird says that his staff will not provide benefit statements at the fair as they have in the past. Instead, the information is offered online at https://apweb.apsu.edu/hrweb/
"The site contains information on pay, benefits, beneficiaries and other items that you would normally see on the benefits statement," Bird says. Employees who haven't registered for access to that site should stop by Human Resources to be assigned a personal identification number. They also should go to that office to complete the necessary paperwork for changes, he adds.
