At its quarterly board meeting in March, the Tennessee Board of Regents approved a proposed plan to reorganize Austin Peay State University's academic colleges and departments.

APSU will be comprised of five colleges:

College of Arts and Letters
College of Science and Mathematics
College of Business
College of Professional Programs and Social Sciences
College of Graduate Studies

Previously, APSU's major academic divisions were:
College of Arts and Sciences
College of Business
College of Education
College of Human Services and Nursing
College of Graduate Studies
School of Technology and Public Management

In addition, APSU has a Center for Extended and Distance Education, located on Public Square, and the School of Technology and Public Management, which is located at the APSU Center @ Fort Campbell.

According to Dr. Bruce Speck, vice president for academic affairs, discussions regarding University reorganization were ongoing for more than a year, with several organizational models evaluated before the final proposal went to the TBR.

Within the new organization, the College of Education becomes the School of Education, which, like the School of Nursing, is now within the College of Professional Programs and Social Sciences.
