Students to march on "The Hill"

April 16, 2002

Students from numerous Tennessee universities will converge on the state capitol in Nashville at 10 a.m., Wednesday, April 17 to voice their concerns about cuts in higher education budgets.

Led by the members of the SGA, students will share information about higher education and advocate for its support. They also plan to stage a mock bake sale in the capitol area to "raise money" for higher education.

Participants will wear T-shirts saying "Higher Education Cuts-Not an Option," along with buttons identifying their home school. They will be armed with data provided by TBR, as well as information on their respective legislators, according to a memo from TBR Chancellor Charles Manning announcing the event.
