Soldiers stand in line for online classes
April 2, 2001
The Army's University Access Online program has no shortage of takers. Since January, more than 500 soldiers have signed up for the program, and 500 more are on a waiting list.
"I had people waiting outside at 4 a.m. to get on the program," said site manager Charles Fitzpatrick, who was quoted in "The Leaf Chronicle." "It looked like they were trying to get tickets to a Rolling Stone concert."
Some 20 universities offer the program, and Fort Campbell is one of three Army posts participating. Fort Benning, Georgia, and Fort Hood, Texas, also are part of the program.
