Plaudits - October 8, 2002


Dr. Jerry Plummer, assistant professor of economics in the College of Business, was in Washington, D.C., July 31-Aug. 7, 2002 to assist the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in judging and selecting submitted real estate grants for historically black colleges and universities. Plummer was a section leader for two groups judging the grant proposals. This is Plummer's second year of being called upon by HUD to perform the grant reviews.

Dr. Ronald Robertson, associate professor of chemistry, received special commendation this week from Constance Brown, a teacher in the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System, for his dedication and hard work with elementary and middle school science students. In a letter to President Hoppe, Robertson was praised for teaching young science students, performing "magic shows" during National Chemistry Week, enhancing student competency in science literacy and preparing students for ExpOlympics competitions. Brown praised Robertson for working "more than a 1,000 hours" putting the Montgomery County Science Fair together. "For over five years he has helped me bring science to my feeder schools," Brown said. "He truly is your greatest asset."
