Dr. Bert Randall, professor of philosophy, called such shows "prurient peeping-tomism."

"Instead of peeping through curtains, we just peep through the TV," he told "The Leaf Chronicle" reporter Stacy Smith Segovia, who wrote an article titled "How Much Is Too Much Reality?"

Dr. David von Palko, communications professor, pondered where it would all end, expressing concern that reality TV shows might cultivate public acceptance of the televising of such horrific events as executions.

Both interviews were the result of a "Local Angle" sent out by the Office of Public Relations and Marketing.
