Next Harned Forum to highlight "The Beat Generation"
October 15, 2001
Today's Generation X and Generation Y are not the first "youth group" to create an entirely new culture and agenda. The 1940s and 1950s saw the emergence of "The Beat Generation," as it came to be called. What was the difference in the Beat Generation and the "Hippie Generation"? Which writers characterized it best?
Dr. David Till, professor of languages and literature, and Dr. Mark Michaels, associate professor of history and philosophy, will answer those questions in the next Harned Forum, set for Wednesday, Oct. 17, in Harned Hall.
Faculty, staff, students and the public are welcome. The forums are free.
